Associate Locator introduces law firms and attorney recruiters seeking associate attorneys and legal interns to law students and new lawyers looking for legal employment. We do this by providing a unique geographical and practice preference search criteria that is designed to place the qualifications of prospective interns and associates before legal employment recruiters and law firms in need of their services. Because there is no expense to lawyer recruiters or law firms using our services, recruiters and law firms will find Associate Locator a free, effective tool for recruiting. Our goal is to marry an associate or intern with a law firm that offers a position in a practice area and a geographical location that satisfies both the desires of the associate or intern and the needs of the law firm.
Associate / Intern Membership
With a large selection of legal job postings we make the job search easier for law school students, recent law school graduates and new attorneys. With a membership, you can search our attorney job listings based on your preferences regarding location and areas of practice. A membership with Associate Locator allows you access to law job postings by law firms offering positions throughout the country. A membership also provides you a way to directly contact the recruiting coordinator or hiring partner in those firms. You may tailor your search of law job listings to a specific city or number of cities in a geographic region of a state or broaden your search to cover an entire state or any number of states. You may also use our "keyword" search to narrow your search to positions in those practice areas that you find of specific interest. Each position posted is posted by an independent attorney recruiter or a law firm recruiter seeking to employ an associate or intern and typically contains the name of the law firm, the geographical location of the position, and a brief description of the position. All of the positions posted on our website are directed to those like you who have recently graduated from law school or who are scheduled to graduate from law school in the near future. Associate Locator is not designed to assist associates relocate to new law firms. Therefore, the employment posting feature is not designed for position postings with legal experience requirements (e.g. litigation associate with 3 to 4 years experience). Once you have found a position that interests you, we assist you in sending an email to your prospective law firm employer or attorney legal recruiter. You may attach your resume, writing sample or any other document that may be requested by the law firm in its legal job posting or you may use the email to request additional information from your prospective law firm employer or attorney recruiter.
A membership allows you to place your resume in front of law firms using Associate Locator to fill positions. Our innovative Resume Editor allows you to create a resume that can be tailored to your strengths and skills and is freely editable at any time. You also have the ability to block your resume so it cannot be viewed by prospective employers should you wish simply to search job postings, but not be the subject of a search by a law firm. The Resume Editor allows you to leave certain fields blank, such as class rank or grade point average, so if you are uncomfortable giving this information you are not required to. If you elect to leave a field blank, rather than showing a blank field, the field does not appear on your resume. You are also given the opportunity to select where you would like to practice law. You may choose an entire state or number of states or you may choose a specific city or a number of cities. Associate Locator includes virtually all cities within the United States. This permits law firms located in smaller cities or markets to find prospective interns and associates who desire to work in those smaller city or markets. Once a legal employer has singled out your resume, it may contact you at the email address you provide when you register.
If you are not yet looking for an associate position, but rather a summer internship, Associate Locator is the place for you as well. We allow you to post a resume in the very same manner as described above with one distinction; you indicate that you are searching for a summer internship position rather than an associate position. This will make your resume searchable by only those law firms searching for summer interns. Once you are a member, you have the ability to continue your membership, without additional charge, as long as you wish, provided you renew your registration prior to the expiration of each six-month term. There is no charge to renew. When it comes time for you to find a position as an associate, you simply change your position selection from summer intern to associate and your resume becomes searchable by legal employers looking for associates. And, as noted above, resumes on Associate Locator are freely editable, so you have the ability to update your resume, as you feel necessary.
Law Firm / Legal Recruiter Membership
We make the job of law firms and law recruiters much easier with our extensive database of law students and new lawyers seeking legal jobs. Whether you are a law firm recruiter or an independent attorney recruiter, we offer our recruiting tools to you for free, helping you find the perfect fit for your firm or your client's firm. A membership with Associate Locator allows you free access to the resumes posted by recently graduated and soon to graduate law school students seeking positions in the market in which your office or offices are located. In addition, we provide you the ability to post legal job listings, without any cost or expense, advertising positions that you are seeking to fill on a site dedicated solely to the employment of legal interns and associates. This guarantees the widest dissemination of the position or positions you wish to fill among those individuals who are seeking employment in the community in which your office is located, and insures multiple contacts from qualified applicants who desire to live and work in your community.
